About the Project
The Afforestation Lahore Project is a landmark initiative by the Commissioner’s Office Lahore in collaboration with the Lahore Biennale Foundation (LBF), certified by the Chief Secretary, bringing together the government and civil society for the better health of the city and its people. Lahore has lost over 75% of its tree cover over the last few years, evidenced by its air quality index (AQI). , Lahore’s AQI soared beyond a hazardous 1000 in Winter 2024, while PM2.5 ratings were shown to be 125 times higher than the World Health Organization’s (WHO) recommended limits. Afforestation in the City of Gardens is a collaborative effort between the civil society and the government for the longevity of the city and its people.
